Kyle Monti

Bassmaster Elite Pro Angler

One of the youngest competitors in the sport, Kyle has competed at every level of professional bass fishing. He completed his rookie season on the FLW Tour in 2016 at the age of 25 and has participated in FLW Series and Bassmaster Elite Series events from 2017 to 2021. Close friends with fellow RELiON Ambassador Jake Whitaker, Kyle recently came to discover the value of upgrading to RELiON lithium batteries when it comes to staying competitive.

Kyle’s power system includes:

Kyle’s 2021 Skeeter FXR20 boat is powered by four long-lasting RELiON lithium batteries, including three RB100 batteries and one RB100-HP battery. The reliable RB100 batteries power his trolling motor, whereas the robust RB100-HP serves as his cranking battery as well as powers four Lowrance LIVE fish finders, live wells, recirculating pumps, power poles, and a hydraulic jack plate.

Why Kyle switched to lithium:

“I was having a ton of issues with lead-acid batteries the past year and it got to a point where I knew I needed to find a better solution. I had at least four circumstances where my lead-acid batteries directly caused me to lose fishing time, both during practice as well as during tournaments. Beyond having the batteries die earlier on in the day, I grew tired of losing power so quickly as the day went along.”

Why Kyle chose RELiON:

“I was leaning toward upgrading to lithium, but it was my friend Jake Whitaker who really showed me the value that RELiON batteries provide. He’s a skilled, professional fisherman and I knew that if the performance of these batteries exceeded his expectations, they would be a great choice for me too. I continue to be impressed with the longevity of these batteries, as I’ve often used them for three or four days at a time and they would still be about eighty percent full.”

How has Kyle’s lithium system helped him challenge his limits:

“I no longer have to worry about previously difficult scenarios like fishing in a lot of current or wind, or any situation that would require me to use the trolling motor constantly. I have a lot more peace of mind during tournaments now that I can fully focus on fishing rather than trying to make sure I’ll have enough power for the following day.”

Kyle’s advice to someone considering switching to lithium batteries:

“If you want to be able to avoid lots of headaches and stay competitive in fishing, lithium batteries are a game-changer and were completely worth the higher upfront cost for the long-term value.”

What Kyle likes most about fishing: “I love that it’s a constant puzzle to try to figure out. It never ceases to keep me interested, as no two days are the same, unlike so many office jobs.”
